Phlebology
Phlebology is the medical discipline concerned with venous disorders. Within this discipline, we mainly deal with the so-called spider veins and other kinds of varicose veins. The first is predominantly a cosmetic and aesthetic problem whereas varicose veins can lead to anything from eczema on the upper and lower legs to venous leg ulcers. Therapeutic measures such as sclerotherapy and/or laser therapy when applied in time will result in an improved visual and aesthetic appearance. The treatment of varicose veins is a must in order to prevent ulcers on the lower leg and thrombosis. Other indicators of a phlebological disease include the feeling of “heavy legs” and “restless legs”.
